I've shown this picture to a few people, and they thought it was the charcoal canister. However, my van has a legit charcoal filter where it should be.

Any ideas what this additional canister is?

Do y'all know what these wires are supposed to connect to? They go from engine bay, to the interior, all the way to below drivers seat.

What is this black cable for with a fuse? I am trying to install the GoWesty Alternator Charge Initiation Kit, but there are more black cables in my van than their instructions and video tutorials had shown. Any tips/advice, is very much appreciated!

The second pic looks like the receiver dryer of an air conditioned van.

I think the first is a vacuum accumulator for the cruise.

The second photo with the vertical canister is your vapor recovery tank.

The first photo of the vacuum storage tank (old time tin can before injection molded plastics), the extra inline fuse holder (old VW Beetle Backup Light Style) and the plug with multiple small wires......
I too will guess an after market cruise control of unknown brand.

Since the van obviously once had aftermarket cruise control those non-stock looking connectors may have been for that (wire colors look typical for a CC too).

As for the black wire - since VW used brown for ground wires when I see a solid black wire I suspect something has been added by a PO.

That black wire with the fuse holder.... If it is black with blue stripe, it's the fuse for your back-up lights.

You all are smart as heck! Was able to successfully install the the GoWesty alternator kit I wanted to add. Found a bunch of other After Market Cruise control wiring and have removed it.
