Just having a car with a manual transmission is the best preventative measure against Millennial car thieves...I haven't yet met a Millennial who can work a clutch. |

I bought a gps tracker for mine. It uses a sim card and I can see the location of the bus anytime I want through an app on my phone. I plan on hiding it in my bus and running off the house battery. I'll follow up when I have it installed and working. |

I use that, or a similar Amazon clone, for a few months a year while I'm on tour. 5-7 days battery life, even if the ground strap is cut. It allows me near-real-time tracking of my bus, from any phone/computer in the world with my password. Highly recommended, if you leave your bus where it could be picked at all. Read the sim contract before signing up!
Allegedly you could track your kid for speeding too, but that's not happening in this forum.

Yet...
I have seen units that have 2 way communication and a remotely operated contact. You could yell at the kid/theif and shut off a fuel pump or engage a speed limiter. |

Someone get ahold of Mark Rober and see what he can come up with. Based on how far he went after someone stole a package off of his porch (https://youtu.be/h4T_LlK1VE4) - im sure he could come up with some fun ways to get your bus back AND get back at who took it. |

If you're going that route, they make setups designed for delivery vehicles that have GPS tracking and speed monitoring, as well as interior and exterior cameras to monitor the driver's alertness.
The fancier ones include feedback too, so if you see the driver on the phone or speeding. You can remotely send a message, speed limit, or even shut down the vehicle. _________________ -Ian

The things I did not like about the little CJ720 relay-style tracker / immobiliser I bought ..
1. The cell coverage is pretty bad with the tiny antenna wrapped round inside the case - I ended up fitting an external antenna to it.
2. The tracker server is in China but you can change it - I ended up downloading the code for Traccar and running my own private tracker website hosted on my own PC server.
I recognise though that if somebody wants my bus, the only thing saving it is there is not room for a flatbed to back up to my bus. And while we are in lockdown and/or working from home, I am sitting in my bus for 8 hours or more every workday and working on it for the weekends.. _________________ Ancient vehicles and vessels
