Bruce Meyers, creator of the Meyers Manx, a car that would become known worldwide as "The Dune Buggy" and that would be copied and replicated for generations, and who was an original pioneer of racing in Baja, has passed away at the age of 94. _________________ -=Rob

Thank you and Rest In Peace Bruce. You were a big influence on me back in the late 60's. It was a pleasure to have met you. You don't know me, but still took the time to talk to me. The hobby has lost another one of the greats. _________________ Prosit!

He was quite innovative in our hobby. |
And although he patented the design, others copied it and he received nothing after a stupid judge's ruling.
The commercial Meyers Manx received widespread recognition when it defeated motorcycles, trucks and other cars to win the inaugural 1967 Mexican 1000 race (the predecessor of the Baja 1000). |

obus, wow nothing on the news yet, good find. I had no idea he placed it illegally.
From that article interesting quote:
"Born in Vittoria, Sicily, Arturo Di Modica was a Sicilian artist who grew a naturalized American citizen. Man is best known for the “Charging Bull” sculpture, which the artist dropped illegally through the night of 15 December 1989, outside of the New York Stock Exchange Building as his contribution to the American people."

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Lawrence Ferlinghetti, poet, publisher, painter and pivotal figure to the Beats and about every other counterculture literary movement in San Francisco, has died at 101.
Ferlinghetti died Monday evening in his second-floor walk-up apartment in North Beach, where he lived for 40 years. Cause of death was a degenerative lung condition, said Nancy Peters, co-owner and retired executive director of City Lights Bookstore and Publishers. _________________ Good Luck

Ralph Peterson Jr., a drummer, bandleader, composer and educator whose lunging propulsion and volatile combustion were hallmarks of a jazz career spanning more than 40 years, died on Monday in North Dartmouth, Mass. The cause was complications from cancer, his manager, Laura Martinez, tells NPR Music; Peterson had been living with the disease for the last six years. He was 58. _________________ Good Luck
