this is a later roof with folding handle and the headliner is vinyl with dots instead of cloth/mohair style.

I am no expert. Rag tops have always been impressive to me, as they are to most people. However, with the current project Ihave learned a large amount about them. But it still is just a scratch in the surface of the entire knowledge available.
This top looks like a 60s model ragtop. The handle tells me that. The earlier handles has a curved handle.
Like this one.
The rails look shorter as well, maybe by 8 inches to a foot. Here is the 3 fold clip I purchased last year.
The front chrome plate makes me think of the Britax units, that I believe were modeled off of the VW mid 60s ragtop.
