I'm going there today, place your order for a pickup today, I'll snag it and bring it to you.

Serious question: what would be the advantage to going through the process of putting the new hall sender in vs. just buying the aftermarket distributor, with hall sender, for 20 dollars less?

I know I see a lot of posts saying Bosch isn't what it used to be, so just curious. For disclosure purposes, I am running the aftermarket distributor, good results, about 10,000 miles in.

For me, new stuff is often crap.
Built overseas using sub quality parts to keep the price low.

FYI, I clicked on the link to the part, Bus Depot lists it for the 2.1 Vanagons, not listed as fitting the earlier 1.9s if that matters to anyone. However, as noted, if you input a 1.9 version for parts when starting over a Search, the Rebuilt Distributor comes up for the early WBXs. I was set to buy the Hall Effect unit until I saw the fitment list below the part.

I got that Bus Depot hall sender deal last year. The timing (pun intended) was good as the plug connector on my original distributor cracked and was hang loose. A zip tie worked holding the connector for a while.

Do get a few of the fiber washers and steel shims that fit above the drive dog gear from VWNOS.com as the original fiber washer is fragile and will come apart.

I used a hydraulic press V plate on its side with the dog gear inside the V and a drift to remove the steel pin. Helps to have an assistant hold the V plate.

My order did not include the drive dog gear, steel pin or retainer as in the picture from BD. No big deal. My hall sender came in an older Bosch box.

I ordered one Saturday night and got an email today:

Thank you for your order with the Bus Depot.

Unfortunately, Hall Sender you ordered has had a price increase. The cost of the item will be $123.95 rather than $99.95. We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

I am not happy.

(When I placed the order the price was 99.95 on the website.)
