The joys of owning a car with how many previous owners with unknown history...
64 notch. AS-41 case. dual port heads. who knows what the displacement is, but assuming 1600. Has a Berg oil pump cover and sump. Runs pretty good.
I noticed in my engine bay while trying to replace the Brosol's with some 32 PDSIT's, that I have a cylinder head vent on the left hand side by cylinder 4. And none on the right had side. Checked the rear and front of the head and the head has not been tapped for a vent. The left cylinder vent hose goes to the Brazilian paper filter air cleaner assembly, so it looks like it actually is supposed to be this way. Something tells me this is not right.
I'm thinking of going to an stock oil bath cleaner which doesn't have the addition tube for the left hand cylinder vent. Regardless, this uneveness bugs me. Any words of wisdom? |

You can put a rubber plug from the "help" section on the tube, as early cars don't have vented heads. Those only came on the 72-73 model FI cars to meet emissions. They also used a special breather assembly with a funky (and leaky according to Ray)PCV valve. Ideally you want to hunt up an early single cap breather, as that will cut down on any oil passing by the crank pulley. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
