| We have what we believe to be a 1965 VW convertible that has been sitting in the family garage since the late 70s or 1980. The chassis number and identification plate match, but the motor does not as it was changed out in the 80s. We would like to confirm the year of the vehicle prior to restoring. Can someone confirm the year of the vehicle based on the following number 155423654. Any and all help is appreciated. |

| Hi, I have a 73 Karman Ghia with a VIN 143201064. I cant find it on the link you sent. I tried online and it never comes up. Is there another place where I can look up a Ghia's VIN ? |

Same link, I clicked the Ghia hot link at top of page for the Ghia info. It doesn't give a list of all the individual VIN's, it lists the production years and what VIN's started in what month. Your 143XXXXXXX Number is an August '72 build and the start of the '73 production year.

Thank you Mike. My problem now is that the VIN doesn't come up in any VIN check website and I don't have the title from this car and if I can come up with more information I can create one here in Texas.
Is there a website that handles this kind of old VIN checks? Thank you |

Sure thing. Looking at the internets, this site, vin data history, can get info for older VINs—for $10
Good luck getting a title! Plenty of topics on getting a title here on The Samba
