All-
Been a long time member. Posted mostly beetle questions.
Was very lucky to have purchased a 1966 13-window from a good vw friend.
Starting to work on the interior restoration. I have these rods which I believe they are called "side cargo door latch rods". I just can't seem to find where they actually go.
Any pics or good location data would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
-Mark

Thanks peecee69.
Quick followup question - Looks like they might be bolted on one end (as there is a hole) and either slip into something on the other end? Are they exposed or do they go inside of anything?
Thank you |

They use special "shouldered" screws to attach to handles, roughly in the middle of the bus. When extended, they extend through the top and bottom of the doors to lock them in place into spots in the body. If you look at the threshold of your bus, you should see where they're supposed to land. When retracted, they might peek out from the edges a little, but not much.
You'll notice the bars have a slight curve to them. That follows the door profile. _________________ 1973 Standard Beetle - running maintenance thread - https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=675712&highlight=
