Didn't Jeep build a "Forward Control" running prototype a few years ago?
I guess they killed the idea due to limited crash protection. I though it was a really cool design. |

I'm having a hard time imagining any space for legs or even people near the windshield given the space required for wheel wells, suspension and a motor, etc. _________________ - Jim

But - surely it'll be electric? A motor in each hub perhaps? _________________ Jim Crowther

Prototype? Hell, they built an FC production model for years, and it was awesome. Has quite a following too. The "prototype" in '12 was just a throwback like VW has done with the splitty bus for years. |

Okay, that's a start. Suspension will still consume a lot of space.
As long as we're forward thinking, collision avoidance systems will eliminate safety concerns and forward controls will be viable again. _________________ - Jim

Well, what does prototype mean anyway? I didnt think it went into production. Im not talking about the 60s one, unless a few years ago means 60 years |

I was looking at importing logistics for a UAV a while back. They'd sell up here. |

Compare the front door here...
And here...
The first looks like it was made by a marketing intern who had never seen a car before. _________________ - Jim

That Jeep looks really familiar and not very original. Pinzgauer, anyone?

I had a unimog in the early 90’s........ nothing to lust after.

hodakaguy went from his Syncro build here to a Unimog to Toyota pick-ups and is now working on a Sprinter. The Unimog seemed to be the shortedt lived given its 55 mph top-speed and the need to have the family wear hearing protection. They have a specific purpose that doesn't apply to most folks. _________________ - Jim

The Jeep seven-slot grill is a Ford design? I didn't see that in your google link but I see it here. Thanks for that education.

I too am toying with a Jeep Platform for camping.
