What engine is this?

I've went through technical pages on the website, but can't figure out what engine this might be...
9364417 is the stamping.

Sounds like maybe a 64-65 40 hp?

And no letters preceding the number that I can see

aug. 64 beetle according to technical section above . 40hp 1200
OR 65 bus 1500 50hp. pics of the motor will help. 2 different animals.

if it is a 40hp then yes correct for a 63. not original to the car .as the
# is a later 64-65 40hp. or like a stated it can be a 65 bus 1500 50hp. without pics of the motor no way to tell for sure which one it is. intake manifold will tell the story. if it meets the head straight down. it's a 40hp. if meets at a 30 degree angle 1500 bus. if that is the case probably re-built into a 1600 at some point.

For sure that's a nice looking car and motor. I can't tell from the picture, is the rear rubber seal between the engine tin and body in place?
