thanks for the correction. I think I tried typing directly into google translate but obviously made a mistake.

Looks like Karmann produced 27799 vehicles in 1958 so 2316 a month or 579 per week!

So, this thread is all about production figures, but I am still searching for the obscure information I would like! I am trying to find out the total right hand drive Cabrio production for 1954. The Samba technical pages gives a total figure for the year, but I have not seen one that divides RHD/LHD. Any suggestions?

I cant remember seeing any karmann specific export data but here are some pages to narrow down how many RHD countries got beetles. If you check total production vs karmann production you can get a general idea but not exact

Thank you!

I recognized the dkws. That one just stood out like a sore thumb. Had to ask. Thanks for replying! It drove my wife crazy. Now I can tell her what it actually is!

Thought Id add another body number that I saw in the classifieds today. Seems Karmann covered up the body number on the ghia with the trunk tag. This tag is listed as 1956 low light

This is a great thread, alot of info on verts. I need to go back and really read all of the pages... a friend has a 60 or 61 Karmann that he wants to move on and has offered it to me a time or two over the past year or so. Its about 75% put back together he just has too many VWs and wants it gone.

If the price is right pick it up! People seem to forget that verts are coach built by the same company that made bodies for 356 Porsche. The ghia for years was the poor mans entry level coach built car but the last few years has seen a considerable gain in popularity especially the lowlights.

X100 Definitely pick it up if the price is right, Verts are a blast to drive.
