1964/65 (and maybe a few other years) had a triangular Handle finger guard. Part Number 117877433A.
Two questions.
1. Anyone have a source for a really nice one?
2. Any tips on how to restore one?
Mine is aged. (You can see below the difference between top & bottom)
I am going to try to soak it in Peroxide and leave it outside in the sun (UV) to try and reverse the yellowing but it has some damage.
Any tips or creative ideas other than painting it?

Start with the least abrasive/invasive, and work your way down the list.
I've used the peroxide method on other plastic parts without trouble. |

I believe there are vendors that sell them if you can't clean it up |

Thank you all.
Regarding Vendors i have only been able to find the "figure eight" version shown below
3D printing. That i may try for the crank handle bezzle as mine is shot and again it is unique to 64/65.
Here are my results so far. This is after one day.
This is after two days and i then put in the hrank hand parts. You can see the original color on the center of the crank bezzle (Oval part) and how the finger guard is almost there.
Actually quite pleased. _________________ 1964 Original Owner build Thread. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=702135&highlight=

I know this might sound horrible to you but this may be your only alternative............................paint, thats right , you may have to spray all the parts with a THIN coat of vinyl spray. At first, I thought yuck, but then I sprayed and the results were GREAT, and I am extremely picky. Clean first, as you have done, get vinyl spray, spray a thin coat, done, parts are ALMOST as new. |

Don't downplay the vinyl/plastic paints, they work great. Get a quality brand. _________________ Come on, It's not rocket science. KISS |

if there won't be much abrasion, the paint solution works. I've used it (the special paint made for plastics) and used per their directions.
However, with a moving part and a plate likely to get scuffed by fingernails and rings, this would not be my first choice for paint. You may find yourself having to sand and repaint regularly.

Chickensoup. Thank you. I did pick up their covers for the cable track but what most sell for the finger guard and crank bezzle are not the same as 64/65.
KTPhil. Agree. Moving or contact parts would not last long painted.
I will post images tomorrow of the UV results. They are good but not sure desired. The finger guard is a grey color but the crank more of a white. The bezzle is simply junk. My belief is these parts should all be light grey and match including the screw caps.
Designed up a 3D printed bezzle last night. Size is correct but design for printing not good. Think i will remove the small ring on top and print up side down to get a clean top/bottom and then attach the small ring as a separate part. Will re-print tonight.
Also trying to figure out the right color. Below is my original wire ramp from the bottom where the plastic is "new", the WW repop and silver beige painted rails. None match. I believe they would have originally matched.
