|

First question is does anyone know of a source for a kit with new brake shoes, break lines etc. to fit a 1973? I found kits for older buses and for other VW products but no luck so far for our bus.
Related question and forgive me if this should be a separate topic; are this disc brake conversion kits worth it and if so which have the best quality/value? _________________ Eric & Sukey

A ‘73 comes with disc brakes from the factory. I obviously don’t know the condition of your bus, but I would imagine the hard lines are fine and you just need to replace the 4 soft lines. Maybe some new rotors, pads and rebuilt Calipers (If necessary) for the front. And maybe new brake cylinders, shoes and spring kit in the rear. I’d put new e-brake cables in at this time too, if that’s just me. _________________ __________

I purchased a full set of brake parts:
Cylinders
Shoes
Hardware
Pads
Rotors
Brake Lines front and rear.
(Basically everything except front calipers)
From RockAuto.com, and was incredibly happy. All name-brand parts (Centric, TRW etc) and it was very affordable.
Everything fit perfectly, and the brakes are great. _________________ -Ian
