Do swingaxle transmissions use a back up light switch? If so, where is it located? |

Only 1967 and 1968 as I recall.

Well rats, mine doesn't look like that. What did they use on earlier models? |

Reverse lights were optional. They used this that connected to the speedo cable.

I just wired mine to a toggle switch. It makes it nice to light up a camp sight at night or work on a buddy's car or tell the guy behind you that he's to close. |

I think the irs nose cone will work on a swing axle. _________________ My Build: '69 Baja - Dark Earth Version

Yes a nose cone for a 1967 to 1972 Bug will fit on earlier 1961 to 1966 trans and then you have a backup light switch. Or use a toggle switch like me and like Wulfthang said.
Cops don't like to see the backup lights come on while you're driving down the road. But I've seen thousands of GM vehicles driving down the road with backup lights on for something like the last 50 years. Common issue with GM cars and pickups. _________________ Richard

Toggle switch/relay it is. Another of many history lessons learned about VW beetles. |
