I purchased it new a few years ago and has maybe 30 min run time. It is the 9000 watt with the Chonda engine. I never had a battery in it. Yesterday I was messing around with it since summer is coming along (the news says we may have above average abundance of hurricanes this year ).
Anyway, I measured 37 VDC at the battery terminals with no battery . When I hook up a battery it was 12.5 VDC.
Is this normal? I hope so because I may have done something stupid... or smart. More to come. _________________ Tom

Not surprising at all, most alternators count on the battery to stabilise the voltage. That's why it's a bad idea to see if your car is charging by removing a battery terminal while running, imagine how the electronics will react to that voltage spike. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
