Thought about this today. Many, many times in the past you get a lead on a bus or truck. Often times you get one really crappy photo to drool over the potential find. Brings the question to mind, and let’s say you can’t see the cargo doors or back hatch. You just know it has bullet turn signals, or it just has fish eyes. What year is the hardest year of bus truck to id with the poorest of photo? Curious as to your thoughts on this. |

just about all driver side from the front pictures of LHD buses are quite useless. exception dual treasure chest singles, or double door panels
you can't see high hinge or low hinge, cargo door indents, you can't tell if it is a 66 or 67 without seeing the dash or the hatch.
Ideal picture is probably passenger side view from the rear with the radio visible. you can see fuel door, hinges, indents, door handles, innie outie, doglegs, taillights, point or slash bumper, center brake light, preferably without hubcaps, so you can see big or little nut, etc.
then again, that would not be a crappy picture then. _________________ regards

The front view only of a truck is not very helpful. When I've tried to empower my amateur spotters, I've asked for a side view if only one photot is available from the street. From there, you can see the 66-67 slots vs. early bank of louvers. On early trucks you can spot the seam arrangement on DCs and early SCs (seamless- schwing!).
Bus rules apply from there in order to find specific years. Bumpers help some. decklid view if you know the thing is from the 50s, etc...
Or, just take Lind with you. He can recite the M-Codes as you drive toward it, and from 100' he'll tell within an afternoon of when it was built. _________________
