I'm pondering where to break the roof white. At the crease a few inches above the rain gutter or take it all the way down to the gutter? Curious to see what you wind up doing and how it looks.
If the Rustoleum--good choice by the way--seems too white, you can get a free squirt of brown at the local paint store if you buy one of their empty quart tins. Use very little as it's powerful stuff. A sample in a paper cup will give you an idea of how much to add. The paint experts at the Sherwin Williams local store told me all paint store color agents are compatible with all types of paint, latex, oil, acrylic and marine. This is wahat i did when I needed to create my own color for boat work.

White, very Light Green? Whatever, it's the black roof!
Anyway.......

Photos of the gutter seam front and rear......
I installed my JEGS digital gauges. The Oil Pressure gauge is hooked up and works, the Auto Trans Temperature gauge is awaiting connection though it is powered.
I need to run the wire and I need to put a bung in the oil pan.
The digital gauge is SO NICE to have! No more guessing on oil pressure readings at the low squished end of a 100 lb scale!
First power up! Notice the USB cables to power the GPS and charge my phone coming out of the back of the gauge cluster. I just filed a small slot for them.
Cold Oil Pressure....... 10w40 Dino
After a reasonably long drive ...... hot idle, about 900 rpm ......
And you wonder why the Auto Trans temperature gauge doesn't work?
I didn't like the angle the gauges sat at.
I didn't want to mar the black finished surfaces so my bathroom chrome fixture wrench to the rescue!
Much more visually pleasing! Engine off, the gauge seems to like 02 psi.
The worst part of this gauge installation?
I had to remove the radio, it forgot EVERYTHING!
There goes an hour of my life setting the time
Setting the display colors
Recognizing my phone
Removing the demonstration mode
Setting speaker balance
Setting vehicle type
Setting the equalizer settings
Etc
Etc
Etc ........

So yesterday I pulled the radio and properly installed my gauges and the gauge Pod.
Everything is back together, I programmed the radio again and started cleaning up and organizing in the garage.
In a little box I find my USB multi plug box!
Well...... what idiot forgot to wire this in while the dash was torn open?
Honestly, it really wasn't that difficult to tap into the ignition 12 volts and ground.
Now my wires are tucked away out of sight in the glove box.
I did stumble across my old Beetle mats. These have been in every VW I've ever owned since the late 60’s. These mats are probably older than most of you reading this!
Very well made, no wear that I noticed and the plastic is still soft and pliable.
I also discovered if you leave the key on for a bit, the oil pressure does drop from reading 02 to reading 00

More money spent!
I'm pretty sure my cruising speed rumble is the rear wheel bearings.
With all of the controversy swirling around this item such as short life after replacement, "magic" undisclosed installation solutions, conflict, arguments, edited threads, etc .
I'm a tad afraid to do this! 
Anyway I'm pretty sure I chased the rear bearing demons away and sought the clear truth about rear axle bearings. I even talked to the demon himself.
There is no preload, there is only proper procedure and quality parts.
Proper procedure is the easy part!
Press them out (not hammer and bash), measure and examine the housing for wear.
Examine the spacer for damage, signs of being loose and spinning.
Grease well,
Press them in (again no hammers)
Reassemble
Torque properly.
The quality parts angle is the big stumbling block.
I just spent an enormous sum of money (in comparison to "lesser" brands) on Genuine Timken Bearings.
6207 (207K) ball bearing open ball inners. 35mm bore, 72mm OD, 17mm wide Readily available, about $30 each. 6950 lbs dynamic 3459 lbs static.
They make a 207W too, it handles almost twice the weight. Maybe You overloaders should check into these. 9000 lbs dynamic, 5100 lbs static.
These are also over $80 each.
RW111 outer roller bearings. I'm told Timken ceased production of these, I found a few available and spent over $100 for the pair.
I am hoping that I get what I paid for and will never do this job again!
I'm using a Quality grease and I'm adding a grease fitting for future grease refreshing.
Price doesn't always equate quality but in this case..... I think or ..... I'm hoping that it does.

Today I changed the ATF yet again. This was a big drop, almost three qts!
The van was at a tilt with the LR low, I must have been leaving a quart in the pan previously!
I changed the engine oil too. It has been about 800/900 miles I guess?
The Odometer/Speedometer was inoperative for at least 250 miles I'm guessing.
At that point I got the GPS and that's up to 540 miles. The Speedometer is now fixed too.
After the engine "refresh" ...... new rod bearings and rings, I put in Dino 10w40 as a break in oil.
I replaced the 10w40 with Shell Rotella 15w40 for the Summer ahead.
That led to much higher oil pressures.......

I also put the proper oil pressure sender unit on the GlowShift plate. I had been using the one for the analog gauge.
My rubbing sound is the LF brake.
I hope it goes away when I install the new brake rotors.
I went to the local FLAPS to get oil and things.
As I parked and got out a young guy came up and said
"That's a really nice ride!"
My first compliment!!
My 10’ paint efforts must be working!
I think I'm going to add an engine oil temperature sender in the GlowShift plate and via a selector switch share the transmission temperature gauge. In theory I could add a coolant temp sender too and share the same gauge.
I picked up a 25’ roll of trailer wire today. I'll run that front to rear so I have the wires I need.

Painterd my roof a couple of days ago. Took an hour and half sanding, washing, masking and painting. Used Interlux Hatteras Off White with Penetrol as it was sunny and hot with a hot blue roof. Paint flowed and leveled perfectly and completely covered the blue with a single application. An hour later my wife needed a lift to the garage to pick up her car. Oops. Turned out by then the paint was dry to the touch and no problem other than a few bugs which had committed suicide as I was painting. Discovered long ago, let them stay until dry and then brush them away. leaves almost no trace and you can't see the roof anyway.
Lost my phone and will send pics when it turns up.
Go for it. Not a big deal. Why did it take 8 years to get around to it.

Agree-agree-agree. Had an '82 and loved the brown----tan? Wel, dark tan. Like that better than the grey.
When Uncle Harry dies and I come into his inheritance, I'll have someone do my car with the tan interior of an '88 Jag.

I made a trip out to Pennsylvania today.
There was some furniture my Daughter wanted.
Driving home I realized as I crossed the Delaware into Jersey that NJ has a really bad reputation.
I'll be the first to admit, some of it is well deserved and rightfully placed.
But
As with most things, you can't paint the entire palate with but one brush.
There are areas of the State I simply avoid if at all possible.
Most of this area is included in what I call the 287 loop. A semi-circle around NYC.
My Co-Workers know...... if it is inside the loop, I'd rather not go there!
The other area isn't as well defined but the Camden/Trenton/Greater Philly area. I'm not as familiar with thus area but I totally love going to Philly in contrast to dire dread crossing the Hudson into New York!
Anyway....... my journey almost always enters the State at Riegelsville Pa into Riegelsville NJ.
You of course cross the Roebling suspension bridge called the Riegelsville Bridge.
It is a unique multispan design.
If you come over the bridge into Jersey and turn left (North) you will find my favorite road in the State. If you know where to turn you can follow the Delaware River to New York State. A mix of narrow paved roads hugging rocky cliffs and almost on the railroad tracks as well. Gravel roads and even sone muddy Dirt. Sometimes you tower high above the River, others times your tires are almost wet.
Many opportunities to pull over and enjoy the river.
There is a bit of history along this path. Old mines, smelting furnaces, docks, canals, farms, old taverns and abandoned farms,
Sure you come upon an occasional busy spot but these are at major road intersections, I-78, I-80, US 22 etc.
I've mentioned how well this Van pulls Jugtown Mountain..... Jugtown has a history behind its name ...... it also has a State Park with miles of hiking trails to the real summit.
I stopped at a few spots on the journey to Morris County to show that the State is much more than the Turnpike, asphalt, concrete and shopping centers!
A one lane bridge over a railroad, no matter which way you travel, you CANNOT see the other side upon approach.
It relies on common courtesy if you meet head on.
Most people probably aren't aware that high on a remote peak New Jersey has an observatory....
In Chester there used to be a large "Ma Bell" training facility back when there was a Ma Bell.
It changed names a few times after the Government broke up Ma Bell.
Fortunately the property ended up in the hands of Chester Township and much of it is a park now.
They used to test telephone pole treatments for preventing pole decay.
There is an entire field of short telephone poles still there.....
I stopped along the Black River, not far from my house. The name "River" is a bit overstated, more like a small brook wandering through a huge swampy wetlands!
There are old dams as it meanders where farmers made ponds where they settled along it.
Don't get me wrong, Jersey is heavily populated without the wide open miles of grandeur that other States enjoy.
But if you wander and look, there is a lot of beauty heavily mixed in with early US history
On this trip today, my 2.1 automatic gave me 17.7 mpg. Mostly hilly backroad driving, no highway..... Can't really complain about that.

I was searching for images of red Vans with a white top.

I saw a Ford Flex yesterday, a dark Burgundy with a White top, it looked nice. (Considering the platform)
I've also seen red Toyota FJ's with a white roof.
Red isn't a color that you can slightly tint the white with to soften the harsh contrast.
White with a tiny bit of red = PINK!
My four year old Granddaughter would love it though! She is big into "Barbie Pink"!
I've also unearthed some concepts that aren't at all bad but they just don't appeal to me...... two tone is such a matter of personal taste.
Looking at photos, the same color breaks look quite good when different colors are involved.
I quite like an orange or baby blue Vanagon painted white above the belt line. The Burgundy/White just has too much contrast to do this.
This one is tastefully done! Two thumbs up!

How about silver for the roof? Might have less contrast in timbre of finish than the white? And still be pretty good at reflecting the sun.
