|
|
The seat covering on my drivers seat has pulled away from the side adjustment lever. My hope was to remove the knob/cap and textured plastic cover behind it in order to repair the vinyl and then reassemble. I have tried to pry the cap and it does not budge, I also tried prying the cover and it also seems set in place. Id hate to break something by accident.
Does anyone know if there is a method to safely removing these parts?

Bentley suggests looping a string behind the knob, and pulling sharply with some force (a lot of it I've found). There's a metal clip inside that attaches/holds the lever knob in place.
Once you have the knob off, then you can squeeze the sides of the cover plate inward a little and pull it off (it has 2 tabs on the sides that lock into the seat frame).
I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Absolutely! Good to know where to squeeze on the plate. I might be able to slip the vinyl back in place without removing the knob. Well see... _________________ 1970 Squareback |

So my seat back in my 66 fastback was not pushing forward. My buddy has an earlier notch with the same seat base. His seat back easily pushes forward where mine doesnt budge. i removed my seat from the car and discovered that there is a lever under neath that keeps the back from moving forward. Theres a hole in the lever that appears to be missing perhaps a spring or something else to pull this lever free of the seat back side plate that would allow it to move. i suspect my seats have been recovered at some point and perhaps the lever didnt get replaced. The car is new to me as of last November and I've never owned a type 3. Any help with clarification would be helpful. _________________ Speed Leaving Without Warning . . .

Thank you EverettB! I’ve been wondering what that little mechanism was for. Great now I need to find or replicate some replacement parts. _________________ Speed Leaving Without Warning . . .
