Hello all,
I just wanted to share with everybody what it looks to me to be a possible scam. I have my 71 411 for sale here and today I received an email from 'Rita' with the following:
Contact: Rita - [email protected]
Buyer location: USA
"Hi! My husband got interest & ready to make an outright purchase ,em-ail him on [email protected] -with pics/final price he will respond asap. Take care Rita
To which I reply, great, tell your husband to give me his phone number and we can talk. Instead of that 'Gregory', the husband emailed me with using the same address:
Dear,
Thanks for the cordial response, My Name is Gregory and actually I am sorry that I could not come to pick the item in person, I actually just had a change in my work schedule but I believe I am OK with the condition as seen on the advert. I am ready to make instant purchase with my mode of payment being a Certified Bank Check via Postal service Express mail or UPS overnight delivery.
I have my own shipper that will come over to pick up the item from your place as soon as you receive check, cashed it and have your money in hand, I promise you everything will go smoothly as I would like to have it before my wedding anniversary which comes in a week.Kindly get back to me with your
***Full Name
***Full mailing Address, City, State, Zip-Code
***Cell Phone Number & Agreed price.
As soon as this is provided, payment will be overnight to you and I will let you know once mailed out with a tracking number sent to you. I will
also add an additional $50 for holding it for me till the Check gets to you and make sure you mark the posting as sold. Thanks and I hope we handle this in good faith while waiting to hear from you.
Best Regards from Creg,
I replied again with the request for a valid phone number to speak directly to the seller. That has not happened. Now, I am waiting for my Nigerian cousin to contact me too.....
Please beware of these people,
cheers,
Abel
PS: the 411 is still for sale, if anybody is interested |

I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.
Thanks to my Tesla driving neighbors, I feel more relaxed driving my SUBURBAN and old VW's.
