Quick question, are these wires considered solid core wires (Duralast Gold E801229)? I’m wanting to run these with a Pertronix II Ignitor and a Pertronix Flamethrower 0.6 ohm coil. Pertronix says not use solid core spark plug wires. Is a tinned copper core considered a solid core? Does anyone know of any other plug wires that could work with a Pertronix II for a type 4 motor? My bus is a 76 w/ stock FI and the 2.0L motor.
Thanks,

I've used solid core wires in the past, but they were usually Brazilian name manufacturer and were for a breaker point ignition system. The copper strands can carry 'eddy currents' & do strange things to modern electronics which is what the Pertronix ignition is compared to an old points set. I'd go for a graphite infused Denso or NGK wire set & protect the Pertronix ignition circuit. |

The factory stock wires are solid core. There are resistors inside the brown spark plug connectors and the rotor. The spark plug connectors fail periodically. You can check all of this with an ohmmeter - should measure somewhere between 2.5 kohms and 5 kohms, as I recall. _________________ '71 panel, now with FI
