Wow!
A lot of talent here
I made a display/info stand for the Ghia a few years ago. I figured a crankshaft, connecting rods & flywheel won't blow away in the wind.

Joe thanks started with this cheap desk lamp disassembled and reassembled with the hub cap and valve cover there is a piece of hanger in the post as the valve cover made it to heavy it wouldn't stay up used the base in the hub cap to add weight to keep it from tipping over |
Genius! Thanks for sharing the process and behind the scenes photos! |

Here’s mine. Moose head. Simply assembled with scrap beetle bumper parts. Used to hang in the house now relegated to hang in the garage.

I've made a few camshaft lamps, but don't like running the wire down the side. I don't have access to a lathe, or large drill press, to drill out the center of a VW cam. Does anyone know if there are any factory 4 cyl hollow camshafts I could grab at a junk yard? |

Here is some of my 'art'. I made a bunch of these pen/pencil/whatever holders years ago. Basically just a painted cylinder with a wood plug glued in the bottom. This is one of the last ones I have and the paint is looking a little worn. Maybe time to make more with all the junk cylinders I have around.

Hope you don’t mind but I just stole your idea I have too many junk cylinder and this is an amazing use for them instead of simply tossing them good work. _________________ -'85 c10 5.3 LS, 222 cam, long tubes, x pipe, 3 inch spin tech's

Karmannut, I've got all of the parts, but was wondering if you had to cut the wire? I can't figure out how to get the light portion taken apart, or did you just feed the whole shaft through the valve cover? Has anyone else made one of these lamps?

Great work Karmannut. Ive got a set of 4 of those caps and I really love this idea. What did you use for the valvecover/shade post?
