Hi everyone. New member here.
I have a 1989 Westfalia and when we bought it the "bumper" trim on the passenger door had come off (we have the piece but one of the brackets to hold it in place was broken... this is what the brackets looks like: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253545115616.
I've ordered this replacement bracket but I don't understand how the bumper panel connects to them. I don't dare disconnect the one from the driver-side door just in case I break it. If someone can offer advise/pictures I would be grateful.
Cheers,
Mark

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I tried searching the forums but honestly I wasn't exactly sure what to search for and it felt like I was looking for a needle in a haystack...
Appreciate the schematic very much. I did a search of the GoWesty site but couldn't turn anything up but I'll keep trying. In the meantime if anyone has pics or a video on the install that would be great.
Thanks!

Welcome!

Your eBay link is dead.

I'm not clear on your request.

You say Bumper end on front door.

I'm going to guess that you have fiberglass bumpers and you are asking about the cladding fastened to the lower part of the front door?

Can you post a photo?
That will help clarify what you need.
Directions on how to do this are on my post.

Here is a photo of my Van with the front door cladding removed.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the response. Yes, it's exactly what you've described and the photo you posted. The cladding fastened to the passenger-side door has come off. The brackets (the ones shown in your picture) are still riveted to the door but one is busted so I've order a replacement. Installing the replacement bracket seems simple enough, but it's attaching the fiberglass cladding piece that I could use some pointers on. The schematic provided by Bobby is helpful to a degree.

The cladding drops onto the bracket from the top with the bottom edge held away from the body some. Then swing the bottom edge into the bracket and the slot lines up with the hole in the bracket so the 10mm carriage bolt can be tightened. It is easier to see it done then to describe.
