Anyone know of an alternative to this expensive little bellows for the door wiring?

You can put innertubes on your vehicle, I was looking for something like an alternative boot made for door harnesses.

I can see where this is going...

You asked for something thats an alternative to the actual replacement boots. Other than used, a rubber tube would meet that. For all the trouble to carefully remove the harness, not sure why you'd go to the headache to modify something to fit. Maybe good used in the classifieds. This is one of those parts that I'd pony up the money for.

you're just gonna slice the thing open when your power mirror or speakers stop working. the wires always break in the tube. so might as well use something you won't cry over when you need to make the surgical incision to restore wiring happiness.

Boots do not need to be sliced open to work on the wires. Remove the ends from their fixed location and pull the wires back and forth and you can usually find something wrong. Or use a bad wire as messenger to pull a new one. Lube the new wire with KY or something soapy first. They pull through really easily.

Pull the wires, remove the old tube.
Cut off the ends.
Cut inner tube to length
Rubber glue tube to original body connector ends
Reinstall.

I'll bet you money it will look fine, work well and last longer than the expensive crap rubber reproductions you can buy today.

Do what Dave says, although if you graft the OG ends to these bellows which could conform to the bending, they might better avoid pinching of the wires. Problem is, it has a smaller id than the OG. There may be others with would be bigger, but this was the first that popped up.

yea, i had no idea they were available.

blows my mind someone would futz around trying to make something when it's available.

i have a real nice pair i have no use for, and was going to list them at 50/pair but seeing new ones aren't a lot of $$ it isn't worth the time to list them
