According to the parts book, there is actually a ‘fuel line valve’ in the system.
This is a very original car and the part looks original and as old as the rest.
It has 5 fuel line connections no less.
But what does this ‘valve’ do? Fuel pressure regulator?

It's both a "T" and a check valve. |

Oké, but does it check pressure, flow direction or what? _________________ '75 SB 1303 2,4ltr T4 turbo: 10.58 @ 129.9mph

Flow direction. Basically it's an antisiphon valve. Early dual carbed type 3s had a problem when parked "nose up", and fuel would continue to flow into the carbs, over powering the floats, and causing hydro-lock. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Yes, fill your engine with gas. _________________

According to the VW 1500 Service Manual, the anti-siphon valves were added in production, in Sept 1964. The single carb engines got 315 127 405 with 4 hose connections, and the dual carb engines got 311 127 405 with 5 hose connections. The valves were approved for service installation into earlier cars, provided that the factory recommended hose routing was followed. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"
