For the pan: I think the one from thailand or from Klassic FAB are way better but more expensive they weren‘t available when I did mine
Cheers

the more I think on it, im gonna call Klassic Fab tomorrow and see what their turn time is and what shipping will be on their pans... this car needs to be more correct and I don't want to regret having parts that are welded in that I know are not right from the start... |
I have not ordered pans for my 59 because they are not the right pressing in to the pan |
I am finding that pans are not available. unless someone has a set they would part with. I reached out to Klassic Fab and they don't have stock and will not be making more until sometime next year... that sucks... the arch in the stamping bugs the hell out of me but I may have no option... |
I couldn’t stand those rear sections either. I ended up fabbing up my own correct rear section using bits from the old ones and making some new parts. _________________ Air does not freeze. Air does not boil.

This will be a great car. At least you didn't wait as long as I did to start it again. I'll keep tabs on this looks like a nice car to start with. _________________ http://karmannghias.org/

quick update on the project. I decided to pause and not use the "universal" pan replacement pictured a few posts back. I order a more correct stamp pattern and finally received the more correctly stamped pans. I just couldn't stand that arched stamp through the front sections.
I am currently opening the tunnel so I can replace the fuel line and the chock cable tube. ill POR15 in there before I put it back together.
looking back, I can't believe that I have had this car for 13+ years. gotta get it on the road SOON... _________________ M J Markham

I'm back on the Ghia project after more delays, moving to a new shop and covid , new pans are here and I have started fitting them. the quality of these pans is FAR SUPERIOR to the previous ones with the arched front floor detail...
I have ordered most of the parts I need to rebuild this to as close to
"new" specs as I think ill be able to get it.

M&T Manufacturing...they are made in Denmark, they didn't come with the seat rails, I had to rebuild my originals _________________ M J Markham

Thank you. Not sure why no one makes them with rails anymore. _________________ The older I get... The faster I was... |

M&T sells pans without the arch? They look great! That'd be nice to have a source closer to home.
I got my pans without the arch for my 66 from Volkstory BKK in Thailand. They were excellent quality, fit almost perfect out of the box. Shipping cost was pretty high though _________________ Currently own:

maybe someone knows the answer...
from the user manual, it appears that when the jack is referenced there, it shows pictures of the jack style one the left.
is this the one I should keep for my 58 project?

Is that the bakelite part you seek? Or is it the steel tube? The Bakelite part is available in the classifieds and some vendors have them. It has a Beetle part number.
The steel ones are rare and you might have to get it from a parted out wreck

The shifter on the right was in our 58 when we purchased it. The shifters on the left was in a 58 parts car we picked up. Neither look like most I see. Are either correct for what the 58 should have?
