My westy has develop an oil leak on the rear oil sensor, as I was driving to a camping site, stop for gas, and noticed that oil was on my rear bumper, I did che ck the oil dsep stick and was less than a quart low, a mechanic did an inspection today and he found the rear oil pressure with leaking, he said in order to get to that switch he needs to remove the exhaust, any advise on other things I should be looking for. Thank for your help. |

It’s not easy, but the switch is replaceable with the stock exhaust and heat shield in place. _________________ ☮️ |

You might consider replacing the low pressure sensor while you are at it, as assuming they are the same age, they may well fail at close to the same time.
The low and high pressure sensors are not the same part number and as mentioned above they should be color coded to show which is which. |

Yeah, those sensors sometimes will leak through the plastic center that holds the terminals in place. _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

You need to remove the shield for the pushrod tubes on the left side of the engine. Has the potential to be a can of worms. Stock requires partially unbolting the exhaust from the head.
Unless it’s been off recently, I’d consider aftermarket shields that don’t require the exhaust to retain it. Check Overland. This way you could cut it free and leave the exhaust flange alone.
Edit. A well placed hole with a hole saw would give you access for a socket. _________________ ☮️ |
