Dead Thread Revival!
Hey guys, couple of questions:
1.) Where does one find an affordable EGT set-up?
2.) Gnarley- you mentioned once installing a larger diameter exhaust. I've looked, but I can't find that post. Could you DM me with details?
(or, like post it here for the benefit of others...)

Ok let's chat EGT -- I'm a pilot, we use these in aviation.

1400 degrees F is fine. It's all fine. Want a lower number, move the probe further down the line. The egt is used for measuring best fuel mixture. When being burned fuel at 1400 degrees is totally normal. To find best mixture adjust to peak EGT and enrichen 100 degrees.

Cyl head temps should never be above 400 degrees F. that is the half way point to aluminum turning to liquid and it is at half strength.

Your airplane doesn't run on diesel and thus your fueling advice is backwards.

That's way too high for my comfort. Under what circumstances are you seeing this high of EGT? Are you sure the gauge is accurate? Your high oil temps may indicate that the pyrometer is indeed telling some sort of story about excessive heat in the engine

85c oil temp would be low, not high.

OP, 800c EGT you need more boost, less fuel, or a lower gear while hill climbing if you're pushing the bleeding edge of what your setup is capable of.

I run a VDO setup which is fine for me. There are plenty of people that hate them and like alternate, more expensive instrumentation.

Aircraft Spruce has some decent EGT gauges. Searching the internet at one point I found a boost and EGT combo gauge.

I don’t track my EGT. Stock ALH flybywire. I do watch IAT and boost with my scan gauge.
