As per the original post title. Engine is a 1600.Will need complete top end. Will rebuild stock. I’m not sure if the fan shroud is correct.

Started painting one piece at a time . Indigo blue. I think I’m just going to keep it simple with single color rims

Went to remove shift rod coupling and the set screw broke off so I cut it off. Once I got the rod out I noticed it was bent in three places. I didn’t realize it was suppose to be bent to clear the e brake . I proceeded to bend it straight before I got around to researching it.
How many bends should it have ? Maybe I should just get another.
Also. there wasn’t even a shift rod bushing left. Just running straight in the bracket.

The plastic shift rod bushing wasn't introduced until VIN 3 140 046 in June of 1960, so unless your car is a late production '60 model it never had a bushing. Previously there was only a metal leaf spring in the shift rod hangar. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

I’ll have to look at my body serial again. It has a non split transmission which as far as I can tell by that serial came out in 60. The hanger looks like it is supposed to have a bushing but maybe not. |

Do you know if there was more than one bend in the shift rod ? |

Anyone know what this color scheme might have been ? I know it’s faded and dirty but ? It came out of this 60 and I think it’s original. Is this what they call basketweave ? Looks like the backrest is a different pattern fron the seat. Is that the way it would have been.
Someone put high back seats in the front so I’m not sure what they would have been . Would they have been the same as the rear ?
Thanks

Basketweave vinyl didn't appear until the 1965 model year, prior to that smooth vinyl or cloth seats were used so what you have there is not original. The striped cloth cord material that can be seen, however, may actually be original. Front and rear seat material matched from the factory, they didn't mix and match material types or colours/patterns.

Painted seat frames and misc with Stone beige spray bombs. A couple observations are : paint hardly covers itself . One coat started acting weird and started getting tiny bubbles which may have been from application in sun or too heavy a coat or ? Not a big deal and didn’t occur everywhere. Just lightly sanded with 1200 and lightly hit it again. Will trey clear coat today as it isn’t very shiny.
Also decided ( since no one gave their opinions on cheap Chinese top end kit . ) to use the stock German heads I have and just rebuild them. I also ordered the 1641 AA piston and cylinder set . I installed several helicoils into heads as there were some broken studs.

One step forward and one back. I got the seat frames painted and one rear bumped my stand while I was moving it and cracked at a joint . I had to weld and repaint. I’m glad it showed up now as opposed to when I installed seat cover. |

Thanks Mukluk for the seat material clarification. I didn’t realize there wasn’t any basketweave in 60. This car had a mix and unmatched set of seats. The fronts were blue high backs. |
