All I have at the moment is the one in my first post. I need to stop by the current owner's house to borrow the box for awhile. then I can take measurements and pix.
But, as you can (maybe) see, it has a carpeted top. What you probably cannot see is that the top has a "bend" in it, so that the slope is a bit higher toward the front. The sides are just vertical walls, and the bottom also has a bend in it to match the shape of the floor. On the left wall (on the side next to the shifter) there are tabs that stick out fore and aft to wedge the box in and keep it from sliding around. |
Looks great! If you get the plans, I would like to make one (or more). _________________ Caleb

Anyone still interested in these things I just found out due to our excellent economy I have no job for this christmas break I was trying to brainstorm today on things to fabricate. I went to high school for metal fabrication and have worked at a machine shop the last 4 years something along these lines wouldn't be to hard to run a small batch of. Any other ideas of stuff people want? |

I think I'm going to try and make my own.
At some point, I'd like to put in the heavier duty under dash parcel tray. I wonder what the interference will be like?
I see sxuxrxf has the bamboo style tray working fine with the footrest. But I do wonder about the other styles. _________________ '76 Deluxe Campmobile |

There: I fixed the photo link. Sorry about that. And, sad to say, I still have not got around to drawing the plans for this. Lame, I know...

I made a good footrest, but sold it with YellowBird. It's a box design rather than a bar. I should borrow it back long enough to make some construction plans to hand out.
It is basically a specially-shaped box made of plywood, that fits snugly in the space at the foot of the passenger seat, wedged between the seat pedestal and the kick panel. The box has a carpeted lid for feet, and room inside to store stuff. Too bad I don't have a better pic of it, but here you can see the top of it in front of the seat:
How many people would be interested in plans for such a box? |

Bumping an old thread but is anyone making these footrest bars any more? |
I don't think anyone actually made them to sell. SXUXRXF made his custom rest but I don't believe he ever produced anymore. _________________ James

Fusername made me a custom one-off that I am pretty happy with. I thought if made up a batch he could easily sell them but he told me he already had too many things going on.
Unfortunately he last logged in December, 2013. _________________ Larry in OB
