Curtain bungee question

My wife is going to make new curtains for our 71 Westy. Do the curtains just hang from the aluminum rod and tuck in behind the bungee, or does the bungee go through a curtain loop at the bottom?

How about the rear curtain on the hatch?

Thru and Aluminum rod on the top and bottom. Slider curtain slides on the track. Back in 2019 I was unable to find the correct curtain sliders so I modified either late bay or vanagon ones, can’t remember. If it was easy to do.
