Rescued the saveable parts from this Single cab, according to the body number it’s made in March -56 and I has the new type of engine cradle so it must be an early Hannover build. Sadly it was crushed 15 years ago by a Forrest Skidder

I am under the impression that there was concurrent production of buses at Wolfsburg and at Hanover for about a month or so.
A couple different sources have slightly different VINs for the 1st Hanover bus.
Maybe post something in the Wolfsburg bus thread, with the VIN, as a March 1956 is a very early Hanover bus.
Can you find the VIN? or just the body number?

what did you find that was still useful? |
One rim, steeringbox, front end, left rear panel and corner, right side panel(dented but rust free), tailgate (rusted bad), engine lid, taillight parts, right door with door handles, front sheet metal (will be a wall decoration I think), cargo lid. Front bumper and perhaps the part I value most is the rear bumper
All these parts will be used on my 56 SC (made in dec -55 in Wolfsburg) _________________ 1961 Ragtop Black

The vin tag is really corroded but I will try to read it.
I will compare some of the part to my dec -55 SC and post in the Wolfsburg bus thread _________________ 1961 Ragtop Black

What a shame - what's the story? How did you learn about this thing in the woods and sadly losing its life that way? |

Cool glad to hear that you got so much off of it. You could try soaking the tag in CLR etc to see if it would make it legible |

When you say body number, how are you dating body # to march of 56? The body # on these busses are around 10,000 to 15,000 off from the actual vin number. Could be built later than you think |

This was my estimation according to the bodynumber 169xxx , but the number was hart to read, so I will examine more, i'm not 100% sure that the second number is a 6, but I will soak it in CLR and se if I can see it all.
I'm not convinced that it´s an early Hannover build but my investigation will go on _________________ 1961 Ragtop Black

In case it helps you narrow down the date, my 8th October 1956 single cab has a body number in the 192,7## range. _________________ Andy

My 56 PGSG was built the last day of Wolfsburg production on Mar 7 1956 and has a 171xxx VIN. IIRC is has the original 2/56 dated rims. _________________ 53 Canadian standard oval
