After applying and blocking the lead word on the quarter panel,
I did some finishing blocking work with a very thin light coat of autopro-minifibe which will be followed today by a very thin coat of Evercoat - metal glaze.

by thin coat of filler I mean a very thin coat was needed here.

Don't fall from your seat if after all of this detailed welding work and metal shaping I still have to use filler. the answer is YES, the world isn't perfect, I was able to get it 99.9% right, but for a perfect and long time result, filler is there to make it happen, and I did not want to cheat and says there is not filling work in my restoration Smile

It looks absolutely great! We all know that every panel worked needs some help!

Great job!

Here is the latest,
before moving forward I needed to make sure the fender were fitting properly and fully aligned with the front apron.
We often see the bottom of the fenders completely misaligned with the end of the apron..

In my case the right fender did not require anything to fit perfect.
on the left side I will have the relocate one hole and had to cut the internal lip to get the proper angle fitting with the quarter panel.

hole relocation and cut and weld needed on the lip:

the rest fits great:

Cool video! Looks like a workout, based on your face after your first round of pounding on it! I actually took a breathe for you! As always, looking awesome! You are an artist!

Yeah metal shaping is somewhat physical and happy to do that during our canadian winter where I keep the place between 50-60F.
I remember last summer working on the fender and sweating Smile

A couple of hours more this evening and after going to install the headlight bucket + weld back the wiring tube in place.

I will post picture of the progress.

Thanks watching this thread.

Really smooth! I like the way the headlight trim mimics the hood curve when you were filming from the side. The profiles are almost identical! Never noticed that before. Just WOW!

I find myself easily impressed when viewing a project done so methodically and gracefully. You are an artist. I know of no other word that captures the level of detail you account for at each level of this rebuilding. Astounding and inspirational for all of us. One guy, one garage, left alone with his project!

Looks awesome!!!

Before moving on. Get the bumper installed and make sure you can get it adjusted correctly. I shot myself in the foot long ago when I discovered this simple point AFTER paint was laid down! Not fun! Check it out now and adjust if needed. Way easier!!!

you're exactly right, this is what I was about to do next after I do the final lead work on the top of my left fender.

I will post pics with the bumper installed just to give motivation to complete this final mile of restoration.
