I ordered an expensive set of dual tapered aluminum pushrods cut to length and assembled before being shipped to me. When I pulled one of the oily pushrod out of the plastic bag they were shipped in, the steel tip pulled right out of the aluminum tube. I tried pulling on the rest and three came right out with my oily fingers. This does not sound right to me. how can I run these if the tip has a chance of moving with the clearance? It would beat the end of the pushrod.

That is I want my $$$ back kind of incompetence. I won’t ask who did it. Check my ads for good pushrods. With them like yours they will pound and keep getting shorter. Dan

They didn't use a good interference fit. Return them. Those CB ones aren't very strong by the way. They can only handle certain cam.profiles and pressures.

That will most certainly fail like that.

Not the first time I have seen that either.

Call whomever you purchased them from and return them for a new set. They should be interference fit like Tabari indicated.

Regardless of the quality, the machining was done incorrectly.

CB says that their alu pushrods are made from supersecret material. It is either 2000 series (2014?) or 7000 series (7075).

JPM and Logmech tapered pushrods are made from 7075 and they work. 7075 is little bit stronger than 2014. 7000 series offers a little bit better fatigue strength too.

I think at some point CB pushrods were made from 2000 series alloy.

CB definitely isn't 7075. Cuts too easy. I cut some 7075 Logmechs, and they squealed like SS the entire time!

Agreed, I CNC and manually machine 7075, 6061 and cast aluminum plate all day at work. I am running CBs straight alum. pushrods on a Web 218 profile with Scat single springs, no issues yet, but when I turned them to length in my lathe I KNOW they were softer than 7075-T651

That said, they had a nice interference fit for the tips and I BANG this engine off the 5800RPM rev limiter every time I drive it. I have a 2-step rev limiter I use all the time too. Valve clearances haven't moved.
