Remove door handles. Remove door panel. Unbolt frame. You may also have to unscrew a screw that is near the top of the window too. Maybe someone else will chime in on that part.

These are videos from Chris at Classic VW Bugs that may be helpful. It is a fair bit of work. I rechromed an original vent window. I found the toughest part to be reinstalling the glass after the unit was rechromed. The videos give a pretty good idea of what is involved in removing the vent window and replacing other seals and scrapers which you should do at the same time. It is a job that requires time and patience.
Good luck.

Save all of the ruined parts as you pull the windows and seals out- EVERYTHING. You will need to use the old clips for your scrapers. Even the 'good' aftermarket parts won't fit the way they need to.

My old rubber was so dry that I was able to just pull the glass out both of my frames.

If you mean the glass in the vent window frame, then watch the first posted video from about the 2:00 minute mark. He suggests cutting the seal around the glass and gently pulling the glass out. The original glass has a logo on it which the repro vent glass does not have. My glass came out reasonably easily without having to cut the seal. It just pulled out. Reinstalling it was a little more difficult in seating the glass with the new seal.

This site was a big help when I did mine and I used his suggestions. Read the section on "Pressing the vent window glass into the frame."

Unfortunately the top two links do not seem to be working. All the videos I’ve seen show the window seal at the top of the vent frame just being easily pulled out to access screws at top of vent frame. That was not the case on mine. Trieb pulling, no joy. Then I tried to pry with a flathead and a small section just snapped and hung down. I was able to push it back in and it stayed. Do I need to remove the chrome? I worried about causing more damage. Please help or tell me where to find the proper info. Thank you and I apologize if this is a stupid question. The Bug is a 1971 Super.

There's one screw at the top under the felt and the bolt(s) behind the door panel.

I know, and it seems like you’re just supposed to pull away the felt. Looks easy as pie on video but I must be doing something wrong. Thank you for responding though. I appreciate it.

If you ever do get the vent removed from the door, and the glass out of the frame, here's a short video from Airhead Parts on how to reinstall the glass back into the frame.
