Hi Samba. I pulled my engine from my 67 bug and replaced it with another one. I am thinking about rebuilding the engine I removed but want to know what I have. I can't figure it out because the H code isn't followed by a O. Anyway, here is the number from the case:

H534825

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. Can these cases be built to a higher horsepower engine? I'm hoping like a 1835 and up.

Thanks.

"H" cases are not typically built up that much larger than 1641cc. You'd definitely need case savers, and an "H" case has single relief oil flow instead if two used in later "B" and A series dual port engines.

Of course some folks say 1835cc is a terrible engine size anyway if thin-wall cylinders are used. However, I've run 1835cc thin wall cylinders in same engine since 1986, and in Arizona yet, dual port heads. I love it.
