Pretty dusty. Car is always covered... and has been since I rubbed on it for hours. I heard something about ceramic but not sure it applied to our car.
So I can dust it with something appropriate and not fear micro scratches? _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Keep a good microfiber car duster in your car. When you uncover it and pull it out of the garage, you can always blow it off first with your air compressor, the duster will pick up any remaining particles the air didn't get. Just lightly dusting it over the body shouldn't cause any scratches, as long as you don't grind down on it.
Car looks great!

Pulled the parking lights:
Look kinda crusty. Can they be saved?
And finally the headlight harness is out:
And the illusion of 1959 slowly emerges:
I think I should replace the headlights as they are mismatched— suggestions welcome. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Shouldn’t the turn signal indicators be screw terminal? Those must be from a 60 or later car.
Mine are oxidized like that too. They can be rechromed but the socket assembly has to come out. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Seem like they have been there since the beginning but I’m game.

Is everything else screw terminal on your car? 1960 is the year they switched to spade terminals I think. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

No sir. But what is on our car rarely seems to have any bearing as to what should be on it. Likely changed when it was converted to 12v? To be fair, I think that was 40 years ago and that could easily create the illusion of “since the beginning.” _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Might be late 60 change to spade terminal? Mine are screw on terminals
and yes to what Jeff said about dusting the car. |
I think the change might be in 61 maybe or maybe late 60? I heard screw on terminals tail lights on a 60 Ghia are very hard to find among all the other 60 parts that are rare also.
I’m sure a expert in here will know for sure.
I might have a set of front turn signals that are screw on terminals in my stash, but I know they are much rougher than yours. _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

I had a 60 Beetle convert and it was all screw terminal. So I think it was 61 that they went to spades on type 1.
Type 2 started out with screw terminals for the 1960s, then mid production went to push on terminal. My June 60 double cab is spade.
There is someone selling reproduction front turn signal assemblies but I can’t remember who or if they had screw or spade terminals. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Seems as though there were some screws left on the strut:

The 60 model year was the last for screw terminals. The terminals on your bulb holders are KGPR reproductions and your bases look shot. I have a set of jigs I made to drill out the mounting studs and replace them, but it looks like some one already attempted a repair and botched it Your Ghia would have had screw terminals, but they are extremely hard to find since they were only used for two years and most have succumbed to the elements. You will likely have to stick with spade terminals. You can replace the terminals, though some bases have a screw to hold them in place and others have them riveted in place. It's not hard to drill out the rivet and drill and tap the hole for a screw. You can find NOS bases, but most seem to be the the European version with only one terminal instead of two (US version has two terminals), but you can replace the single terminal with dual terminals.
For example:

Here are the reproductions being offered:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2002599
I have never seen one in person so I don't know how nice they are in person, but they look nice in the photos.
This thread shows how to replace riveted terminals:

Headlight wiring.
Hoping we can do better with the ground than that wonky cabling.
Also, given today’s headlights, aren’t we stuck with slide-on terminals for them?
Here’s what it looks like from the back:

Oh dear.
With non-refundable reservations made, I fear that I may have to tender my resignation unless a suitable accommodation can be found. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0
