|
|
I recently replaced the tint on the windows of my 02' Weekender and the tint guy took out all my curtains and never replaced the stoppers that keep the hook gliders from gliding right on out. This an impossible part to find, and even the hooks and gliders are discontinued. (Yes, Gowesty sells a lousy version of them). Trying to figure out a solution to keep the gliders in the track. Anyone have any experience with this or have any ideas? See attached photos of the piece in question. Thanks!

Just yesterday I installed a locking glider I got from GW, to address this exact problem. It was unpleasant to install, but now it's locked in place.

Was thinking of various decorative tacks with large heads. Cut the pin off and hot glue in place.

Thanks for the reply. I actually bought a bunch of those from GW as well- but I now realize they're for Vanagons? All I could figure out to do with them was remove the loop from the rectangular piece and slide that into the track. Which fits, but hangs lower than the OEM loops...I still don't understand how the "lock" works...that's why I posted the OP. Any chance you could post a photo of your installed? |

They fit EVs. The tolerances are a little tight, but you have to push up and use a set of pliers to rotate the loop 90 degrees. It's kind of a bitch, but does work. The loop needs to be parallel with the other loops when it's set in place. _________________ Casey--

I lost ours on the sliding door curtains. The plug is hidden behind curtains so I went to the local hardware store and got a very small cork plug. I pushed that in the hole. It was a nice and tight fit. It was worked great so far. It was cheap and didn't damage the track incase I can ever hunt down the correct piece.
If it's visible, maybe this solution along with the decorative tack idea? |

Also a great idea- thanks. Was actually thinking maybe fill that space where the stopper should be with some kind of putty or epoxy but cork makes more sense- less messy/permanent but still stays in place. |

I used foam ear plugs, just rolled it tight enough to insert it in the track. it's working great so far. |
