Sorry for the Newby question but I’ve searched quite a bit and can’t find the answer to what should be quite obvious. I’m trying to install the spare tire (which was loose in the van when I bought it). Where do the front parts of the spring rods go? Hopefully my photo is clear enough. This is the only location that I can see for them to go, but I would expect to see evidence that they were there before. It seems to work in this location but I’m far from sure that it’s correct. _________________ 1986 Westfalia Vanagon, 2.2 Subaru

the two holes in the frame in your picture. put the hook in the hole and twist (it will be obvious) and then hammer the rod into the rear support and install the clip. the rods should have the rear 90 degree piece facing the center line of the Vanagon. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL Camper
