Stuck home with the covid crap and not too with it so hoping I am missing something obvious. Pulled the instrument cluster out and apart to put a new odometer gear in. That went great. Now that it is back together my turn signals took a crap. The indicator light comes on, usually stays solid but no signals come on. Once in awhile they will come on and flash very slowly. Seems like a bad ground but??
I put a new flasher in a year or so ago. Not sure if I created the problem or if just coincidental and my flasher went bad? I had all the wires off the lights but I would think the worst that could happen there is getting the lights in the wrong hole. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd be looking for a wire that got knocked off the hazard switch or fuse box during the cluster wrestling to start with. Also how well charged is your battery?

That circular cluster of brown ground wires is ground central for the front of the bus. One of the wires goes to a body ground tab up by the wiper motor, and when pulling the instrument cluster, it's easy to pull it off, which un-grounds the cluster. Check that it's connected.

A black switched 12 volt feeder wire goes to the fuel gauge regulator and to the mounting plate for a bunch of dash indicators, including the turn indicator. Make sure it has power when the key is on.

Thank you very much guys for the tips. I checked all the grounds and connections again and
Wasn't getting anywhere. Sometimes they would flash very slowly usually not light at all. Flasher was only a few months old and genuine vw so I thought it unlikely it was bad. Pulled it out for giggles and stupid thing is full of water! Apparently my new windshield seal ain't doing the best job. I got the cap off the relay, used electrical contact cleaner and some wd-40. Works like a champ now. I saw in the archives someone describing this very issue with a wet flasher relay. I was sure that wasn't my issue when I read it, I have a new seal Sad
