I got some before and after pictures of the recent body work and fresh paint on my 1971 Dormobile bus!
Before:
After:
Okay, okay, so it wasn't really my bus, haha. This is a Lego version of my bus that I've had in the works for a while. I heard some of you folks here like Lego, and I wanted to share it somewhere. I recently ordered the last bit of parts in the correct colors so here it is in all it's glory.
Here's some outdoor pictures to end the post:
Thanks for reading!
(yes, the passenger side mirror is missing because it's missing on my real bus) _________________ 1971 Dormobile "Juliett"

Hey that's very cool.
Can you rearrange the nose parts to put the turn signals above the headlights, and right under the windshield, like a late bay?
Looks like it might be possible.
Neat.

Cool Lego Bus, I like your scarf too.
What's the size of it? I'm guessing around 5" long. |
Thanks! And what an amazing guess, it's just shy of 5"

Yes, I think it would be pretty easy to convert the model to a late bay! Maybe in the future I will make some variant models...
Oh and the T-shirt of the little dude (me) has the Porsche logo _________________ 1971 Dormobile "Juliett"

Nice! This is honestly the most impressive build I’ve seen on here in a long time. I’d guess you have over 50 hours in it so far?
Body work done properly like that should last a few thousand eons, if you don’t turn it into a spaceship.
Park it next to my Ghias,

I expect that you are all aware that Lego made a VW bus kit, right?
I modified mine to be a RHD double cab (original camper kit in background):
But i like the OP's, because it is an original creation. _________________ John

Tried it out just to see! Threw on an emblem for fun as well.
Emblem with low turn signals:
Oh and a spare tire test! My bus had this set up once upon a time.

I believe there's gotta be at least 50 hours in it, that picture is over a year old! The first iteration was from about 2 years ago, and I've been making slow changes whenever the thought strikes me.
Here is the oldest known picture of it. It has come a loooong way.

Seriously, that bus is a fantastic model. That level of details isn't easy, the SNOT is fantastic, and it's an odd number of studs wide in some places. That contorts things WAY out of childhood-LEGO-skills.
See you on the road,
Robbie

I and asiab3, would expect a quality factory engine build from you “Airschooled” using only German engineering and parts. This looks like Lego of Denmark went the way of EMPI and built this from the Lego Jiaxing, China newest manufacturing plant. You have a Pertronix 009 distributor, universal aftermarket carburetor, I don’t see a mechanical fuel pump? Shitty aluminum style heater hose, generator clocked wrong, and Vintage Speed or Tri-Mil pea shooter muffler gimmick. Fan shroud looks suspicious. None of which you would use on your bus.
Cool Lego bus DocNexil. You clearly have an eye for details.
Fun Lego time. All the Lego builds look fantastic. _________________ Keep on Busin'

Your prototype reminds me of this prototype lol |
Keep in mind, this is not a Volkswagen!
This is a "Palten Diesel" prototype with Diesel engine (20 hp) from Austria of the 50s.
The body work of 5 prototypes was done by German body maker Westfalia.
Than builded only around 2000 times for isolated Spain (dictator Franco) as "Fadisa (Alfa) Romeo" with Alfa Romeo Diesel and front engine grille... _________________ Rolf-Stephan Badura
