I recently go this out of a notchback and figure they were the same across all of the 66 vehicles. But I looked at the most recent one I’ve gotten Ans this one is all smooth compared to the bug ones I have that have ridges in them. I was wondering if there is a type 3 specific emergency flasher or it is something aftermarket any knowledge would be greatly appreciate thank you!

66 - 88 emergency flasher switches are a one year only deal. The full plastic candy red switches were not on German VWs, probably limited markets like US and Canada. The one you have is correct for the 66 Type 3 as its shape resembles the stock switches you have for the wiper and headlight. THe ribbed kind is for Bug & Ghia. Maybe bus as well. The hard thing to find is the bracket that holds the switch under the dash for the Type 3.

My question is more about the knob you see how mine is flat around the top and the other ones are not. This was more of what my question was about.

Again, the one you have is Type 3. Specific to the knobs in a type three.
