Howzit All!
I just purchased a nice example of a 71 Type 181. I already have a beautifully equipped and off-road modified 73 and I’m thinking of going the opposite direction with the 71 and slam it. I’ve been searching the forms and can’t find any information on converting a Gear Reduction type 181 to a straight axle type 1 style transmission. Has anyone done this? I can’t believe I’m the first to ask the question. I have used Old Speed drop plates to convert a Type 2 but the set up looks a little different. Can you just put stock type 1 spring plates on? It’s important to me not to permanently modify anything because I want to have the ability to return to stock if I ever decide. Bolt on is best. Any help is greatly appreciated. _________________ (O8o) =====\x/==== (o8O) |

Hello
You can use bug spring plates and use a straight swing axle gearbox.
you have to find the right bumper stop bracket and do some work if you want to keep the rear Z bar. _________________ La terre n'est qu'un seul pays |

Right on, thank you el_safari! I have a type 1 gear box and will start looking for spring plates. Do you have any good leads on the bump stops? _________________ (O8o) =====\x/==== (o8O) |
