so i was playing around with installing new carbs last week and decided to drive without my radio on (its almost always on) and i noticed damn, what's up with all the squeaks and creaks up front?!?!? sounds like old motel 6 bed.
the suspension is pretty new (about 1k miles). i have a narrowed beam, drop spindles, disc brakes etc. and i've greased the zerks as far as i know. when i grab the drip rail above the drivers door and rock the bus side to side, i notice that it sounds like my torsion arms are dry.
i have the red poly bushings with a zerk but i do recall it greases the outer bushing and the beam. the parts that move are the control arms and the inner sleeve of the bushing so i'm wondering if there is a zerk for that? |

There's your answer. Polyurethane bushings are squeaky. _________________ 1973 Standard Beetle - running maintenance thread - https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=675712&highlight=

what's the alternative? i really like the stock needle bearings it came with before i swapped the beam. does anyone know if they sell them for aftermarket beams? |

getting back to the front end... my original beam had needle bearings, do they make them for aftermarket beams? otherwise, i’m gonna pick up some of that poly grease. |
