70 body on a 74 pan?

Can you put a 1970 body on a 1974 pan? Does this create issues with the registration? Not sure if the VIN goes with the pan or the body?

I think if you have matching numbers on the badge under hood and the dash you’ll be fine. When I registered my antique plates an officer came to my house to verify the VIN. All he looked at was the dash and trunk badges. He didn’t even know about the tunnel stamp.

And they will fit? Both standard beetles.

I can probably work around any registration issues. The Yukon is notoriously relaxed about these things with so many old trucks being dragged out of the bush! Especially since I own both vehicles with titles etc.
