Subaru EJ22 IACV Intermittent CEL

I'm getting an intermittent CEL related to my IACV. Primarily while on the highway. The part is really expensive, and I read sometimes cleaning with carb cleaner does the trick.

Has anyone had this problem and tried cleaning it first, instead of replacing? Any tips?

Clean it with carb cleaner. Look for Youtube video for EJ22. You may have to replace the gasket.

you're really NOT suppose to remove the magnetic actuator as it's very and i mean very sensitive to changes. the FSM has a procedure to reset it.

for fun, i played with one and let me tell you... 1mm in either direction makes a HUGE difference on how it reacts.
