Ha! Pretty sure you will not see that monstrosity in any 1959 manual.
But, hey, correct me if I’m wrong. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

I don't know, that's why I was asking. There must be some original grounding points somewhere. Do you think some PO welded those in that spot? Maybe someone has a pic of an original grounding tree, I'd be interested in seeing that.

That is my thought— easy way to ground everything without having to track down poor original grounding points. Why would there be spade terminals when everything else is screw? Further, I don’t believe the new harness provides any such collection of grounding wires. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

No sign of such a tree here, and no sign of the collection of grounding wires that would be making there way to it:

Agree, the standard screw terminals for your year vs the spade terminals is odd. But from all the talk we have on this site about electrical problems, it almost always comes down to bad grounding, I know I had that problem. So even an early model like yours, there must be grounding points somewhere.
Why are you and I the only ones awake talking about this? C'mon people, wake up clarify so we can get on with our day!!!

Later Ghia— I spy some grounding points?
Also, I see we seem to be missing a tie down for a vent conduit. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Early cars don't have a grounding lug. Everything is grounded thru the body or chassis. _________________ '58 Ghia 2387cc with a Berg / Folts 5 Speed

No spade connectors on a 59. My later Ghias have them. Those were likely added when they did the funky wiring job. I’d grind them off and touch the area up with some paint. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

M5 0.8
Bolt size for lowlight wiper motor!
Wired up the motor and screw terminal switch and gave a whirl:
Link
I realized that I had not added the grounding tab on the motor but was happy that it seems to be grounding anyway.
Attempted to wire up the parking circuit. Oddly, it will then park when I power up. If I switch the wipers on and then off, it parks and then parks again and again... Gotta think about what is happening. The switch itself is not grounded and perhaps that is causing this somehow.
Have not found any wires in the harness kit for connecting the switch to the motor (just the switch to the fuse block). I used some of the wires that I pulled. Clearly, there has to be a better way of connecting wires to the motor as the bare wire is not held well.
Also put the vent controls back together:
Will hold off installing until I get the driver’s side duct in. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Nice!
I think blue dots are not for lowlights though. Thought I might simple paint them until I saw they were recessed as well. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Not to worry. The levers are not side specific and Trylon has already faced the blue dots to the front of the car so you won't see them unless you crawl under the dash and look at the "back" of the lever knobs. This guy thinks of everything down to the last detail! |

So one would think— more likely I just put them in upside down by accident. Anyway, I think there are dots on both sides. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0
