When I purchased my 1984 Westy previous owner had apparently put plexiglass in place of skylight opening. Plexiglass is cracked, hence the duct tape and tarp causing poor lighting. When I look at photos of skylight installs it appears that my top has far more holes. Just curious if anyone had any insight into what could have been installed previously that would be reason for what appear to be “extra” holes.

Still trying to decide what I want to do with it. Leaning towards a maxxair/fantastic fan install at this point, but also might just decide to replace the plexiglass glass and seal her up for moment.

Thanks!

That top needs some work. Expect the PO put tape over the old skylight holes. I'd toss some new plexiglass in with silicone and go camping. Fix the top next winter and by then you will know what you want up there in terms of light/air/fan.

Unless I’m missing something, those are just the mount ting holes for the mechanism and hinges. I think your top just needs a good cleaning a skylight kit. I might be wrong but I just installed one a month ago and it seems like all the holes are correct.

Edit. I went out and looked at mine. I thing the holes on the sides are extra. I’d put in some matching bolts and install factory plastic caps. It will look pretty close to stock.
