Hi, i'm a newb so I may need some help from you guys. How many quarts of oil does a rebuilt 1600cc engine get? I believe it's 3 qts, but I don't wanna drown the engine. Thanks! |

In a bone stock engine (without say, an oil-pump-mount or external full-flow oil filter) it's 2.65 quarts. |

dont forget to change the oil in the aircleaner bowl. and while your at it lube the door hinges, they are exposed to weather, need frequent oiling

Also, if you just got the bug, this would be a good time change the gear oil in the transmission. About 2.5 liters of Hypoid 80w90. |

Glad to help. Do read again and again till you have a good general idea what is in it and how to find the info in it quickly. Print out two or more copies, one for the home/garage, and one for the glove box.
Also do get the Workshop manual for your year of beetle. While expensive it is the best if you are going to work on your VW.
