Well, after basically becoming an electrician trying to figure out what my electrical issues are, I think I've found the problem!

I traced the GEN wire from the speedo to the back of the car finding that it was spliced 3 times along the way, from blue to brown, to black. When I removed all the electrical tape, a lot of it was crumbly and had questionable connections. After removing all the tape and securing the connection, the GEN light is back!

In the meantime, I've:
- removed non functioning factory AC wiring from the front to the back
- fixed a clicking in the fuse box
- fixed a parasitic draw coming from a circuit breaker

I'm going to replace the entire run of wire, what's the right gauge to buy?
The wiring diagram shows 0.5 blue.

Thanks again for all your help!

From the Technical section:

Metric 0.5mm^2 wire works out to 20AWG. 20AWG is less common than 18AWG. Either will work for this circuit. Try to find the correct color wire... blue.

eBay has wires with tracer color in the insulation. If you find an ad (I embedded a link for you), you can call that company directly and ask questions about color availability. Good luck!

I'll second the suggestion to look to ebay. Also, I've bought wire from this company with success:

Their focus is GM EFI stuff but they have a lot of options, including stripes.

Here's what I used on my build ...

It comes in 10 or 25 foot rolls depending on how much you need.
