97 EVC had great brakes working fine til passenger front caliper got stuck and ate its pads and rotor. Got a front set of rotors and semi-metallic pads from Europarts SD and had a local shop install. Brake pedal is now spongy and nearly goes to the floor, could not get ABS or lockup on panic stop, just a slowww stop over distance. Shop re-bled with pressure bleeder, no improvement, then again after I told them to be sure & run 0.5 liter brake fluid out each caliper. Brakes improved slightly & can get a slight momentary lockup-ABS on panic stop, but pedal feel remains spongy and travel is nearly to floor. Looking for suggestions. Shop says they think the pads I supplied are the problem and want to order another set of pads- I've been over all the forums & posts and not found any instance of "spongy brakes" in a Eurvan with new pads being cured by replacing those new pads with different new pads. Has anyone on this forum had that experience??? Everything I've read sounds like "bleed it, just bleed it..." (apologies to Michael Jackson fans Wink ) Thanks campers! It’s not pads, it’s bleeding. It’s also possible that the overheat ruined the caliper seals but a shop should know how to figure that out by inspection.
